Summary of the Nevada State Lemon Law

Nev. Rev. Stat. § 597.600

Vehicles Covered: All vehicles covered in the statute. Excludes motor homes and off-road vehicles.

Persons Covered: Purchasers, transferees during express warranty period or any persons entitled to enforce the warranty.

Period Covered: Whichever is first: term of express warranty or within one year from date of delivery. Any action must be initiated within 18 months of delivery.

Notice Requirement: Consumer must notify the manufacturer of the defect in writing (along with any change of address).

Repair Requirements: It is presumed that a reasonable number of attempts have been made if the same nonconformity has been subjected to four or more repairs, or the vehicle is out of service for a cumulative total of 30 or more calendar days.

Affirmative Defenses: The nonconformity does not significantly impair the use and value of the vehicle, or is the result of abuse, neglect, or any unauthorized modifications or alterations.

Replacement/Refund: The manufacturer shall replace with a comparable motor vehicle of the same model with the same features; if unavailable, it shall replace with a comparable or substantially similar motor vehicle, or refund the full purchase price less a reasonable allowance (defined).

Other Reimbursement: Taxes, fees, and charges; refund to the consumer and lien holder.

Arbitration: For remedies under this section, a consumer must use the informal dispute procedure established by the manufacturer provided that it complies with 16 C.F.R. 703.
